Thats kind of my point. The 2 girls kissing is shown on tv, granted at night but I've seen it, and if I can be turning channels and see it, what prevents kids from doing likewise.

I mean if you talk to some people in the field, you have that or worse going on in the elementary schools fairly regularly now. Kids doing things that I still dont think I'd be brave enough to do.

If a child comes up to you at the computer, and you're on this board or somewhere else, afraid they're going to see something they're not supposed to, then I have a SIMPLE solution:

Look up. Now look to the right. No, not that far--upper-right hand corner of the browser. See the lil underscore looking thing? That's called a minimize bar. Now, I'm going to tell you to click on it, and it will go away--but not for forever...just down to the taskbar, which is at the bottom of your screen. Now after I tell you to click that button, look down at your taskbar, and then all you'll have to do is click on where it says "Welcome...", to bring the screen back up. Now click it.

Welcome back!!! Now either you saw your desktop, another program that was open, or another browser window when you minimized the window. That was rather easy, wasn't it? Painless? Not time consuming?

Now let's say you're done with it and want to close the browser with something objectionable on it...see the X just to the right of the minimize bar? Click it.

Okay, now you're back and you're cussing me because the browser went away, seemingly forever. You had to navigate all the way back to this thread to see the end.

USE THE MINIMIZE AND CLOSE BUTTONS IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR KIDS TO SEE WHAT YOU'RE SURFING FOR ON THE INTERNET. YOU AS AN ADULT CAN CONTROL THAT MUCH.

Should be no need to do it on www.whitehouse.com or a poser Disney website either--but it happens. And that's a really simple way to get rid of the problem w/o disabling avatars--take the browser, minimize it, and pay attention to your child if they come up to you. Go to a website they want to go to, spend some time with them, and then they'll want to go off and play something else after a while. You can put down the browser until you're ready to begin posting again not in plain sight of the kids. It's not too much to ask.

If they don't see it at home who's to say they won't see it at a friends house, neighbors or babysitters...If they go over to Timmy's house and he has a PC withut parental controls to block websites then what's stopping him/her? As I said you can't be with them 24/7...Times have changed since when we were growing up...Some will have to face it they will see it no matter what unless you keep your child locked up in a room with access to noone for the rest of his childhood.

I am not a big fan of the overly sugestave Avatares but a year or two back when Madana and Spears had that big kiss on TV it was replayed on a national news several dozen times and not nesaceraly at night.

And would that Avatar have been OK if it had been a Guy and a Girl?

You know the Avatars could be like the simming pool "No Public displays of affection"
